You or a member of your family can claim up to 40% tax relief on the costs of homecare from Connected Health in Ireland.
This benefit allows the person or persons invoiced for homecare services to claim tax relief in their highest tax bracket (20% or 40%) up to an annual limit of €75,000 per each person cared for.
In the event that more than one person is billed and pays for the care, the relief will be applied on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the sums paid by each person.
You or a family member can claim tax relief up to 40% against the cost of homecare.
To apply for tax relief on your homecare services, download and complete a HK1 form ‘Claim for Allowance for Employing a Carer’ from Revenue, and submit it to your local Revenue office.
The form can be submitted either during or after the end of the year.
You can choose to reclaim your tax either each month or at the end of the year.
It is important to remember that the person receiving the care does not have to be the person invoiced – the bill payer can be any family member regardless of their tax bracket. A family member is defined as a spouse, civil partner, child or a relative, including a relation by marriage or civil partnership.
